The Wire Salon: An Audience With Terry Riley
[in conversation with Tony Herrington, The Wire]
>

Terry Riley is one of the original legislators of modern music – over the last 50 years the work of this American composer-improvisor has impacted with profound force in the arenas of contemporary composition, psychedelia, ambient music, electronica and beyond.

For this special edition of The Wire Salon, the composer of such landmark minimalist works as In C and Rainbow In Curved Air will talk live on the Cafe Oto stage with The Wire‘s Tony Herrington about his life and work, from his early 60s tape loop and trance music experiments and collaborations with La Monte Young, through to his current project, which looks to expand on the legacy of Riley’s guru, the great Hindustani singer and teacher Pandit Pran Nath. The discussion will be followed by an audience question and answer session.

Produced in association with the Asian Music Circuit and the London International Festival of Exploratory Music (LIFEM)

The Wire Salon is a monthly series of salon events, hosted by The Wire magazine, and dedicated to the fine art and practice of thinking and talking about music. The events consist of readings, talks, panel discussions, film screenings, DJ sets and even the occasional live performance.
