    ABOUT: A tall eccentric redhead from Cleveland, Ohio with a deep, haunting voice accompanied by portentous, dramatic piano, harp and accordion. She sings in a voice thar veers between Shirley Temple and Dame Vera Lynn. Contributor to debut album of Antony And The Johnsons – it was Hegarty who sent Dee’s compositions to David Tibet (Current 93) who urged her to produce a solo album. Tibet later went on to release Baby Dee’s first album on his label Durtro. Dee’s discography now includes seven albums released by Tin Angel, Drag City and Durtro in the last ten years. Her infectious cackle and extraordinary talent has caught her many musical admirer including Michael Gira.

    Dee’s career has seen her perform worldwide with Will Oldham, who co-produced ‘Safe Inside the Day’ on Drag City 2008, with Matt Sweeney, Antony Hegarty, Marc Almond, Alex Neilson, David Tibet and Andrew WK – also producer of ‘Regifted Light’ released earlier this year. “a resonant tenor that occasionally rises in a counter screech or descends into a filthy, cackling vibrato rasp…Defiantly unclassifiable, away with the fairies, but a mesmerising class act.” Live Review, Frieze Art Fair Festival 2010
