    Combining their Klezmer music heritage, the intensity of a punk band and inspiration from Gypsy and Balkan dance music, the unmissable Amsterdam Klezmer Band are one of Europe’s funkiest outfits.

    The story started in 1996. A few Amsterdam boys with Jewish background got inspired by the catchy sounds of Klezmer and Balkan music and started busking. Since that time the band has evolved into a seven-strong line-up, representing one of the finest on the festival scene in Europe. Their bold and brassy sound with Balkanic grooves, oriental influences from Turkish Gypsy music, Rebetika, and Darbuka beats, plus rap-edged delivery from Ukrainian frontman Alec Kopyt and a punk/ska stage attitude make Amsterdam Klezmer Band an explosive live act and total dance experience. Their catchy tunes have been remixed by Shantel (Bucovina Club), DJ Yuri Gurzhy (Russendisko), Stefan Schmid (Zuco 103), Cmon & Kypski, Peter Millenaar and Marcel Vos. Catch them in their UK premier in this special Klezmer-themed Club Zigana event.

    Opening the evening on stage from 7.30pm will be the London Klezmer Quartet led on clarinet and violin by some of the finest players of Klezmer in the UK. With DJ Sacha Dieu spinning Balkan Gypsy Klezmer Swing delights.
